A Balancing Act: Neuland & Script (Judy Melvin: 2.5 day)

Skill Level: Intermediate

Neuland — contemporary, contagious, bold and a terrific compliment when used withscript writing. Whether paired with pointed brush or nibs, tech writing tools , italic or thin pressurestyle roman hands, Neuland is an alphabet worth its weight in gold ( yes, it also takes gold leaf well ).We will concentrate on the hand, as it was intended and designed by Rudolf Koch, andthen the fun begins — stacking, stretching, using really wide nibs and tools, and preparingpages with numerous words, and Neuland marks. We will also Gild a letter & decorate a letter or two.We then begin combining different scripts (of your choosing) to revel in the play of thick and thin, bold or delicate and uncommon versions of the letters for finished works and future reference.
