Three items of interest:
- We’ve updated the Vendors page for week-long and one-day vendors.
- We’ve also created a page with a list of our public events: there’s so much calligraphy in PDX to avail yourself of this week!
- Last but not least, we’ve created a page to thank the guilds and organizations who have done do much to support us. Thank you!

Virtual Guild Banners – we invite your guild to submit a digital image of your guild banner. Frankly, we don’t have space to hang all the wonderful banners from around the world so we’ve decided to create a digital presentation. Images should be either a 4×6″ or 6×4″ jpg (approx / if possible/ get close) at 300 dpi. Title the images with your guild name. Submit up to three images via email to meri@2012calligraphyconference.com. We will include all banner images received by April 30.
Participant’s Exhibit – bring an unframed 7×7″ piece of your artwork that is lightweight (no heavier than mat board) to display in the Participant’s Exhibit. Please put your name on the front. This do-it-yourself display will be located just outside the dining room. Forms & Payment Returned by March 1
Donate to Welcome Bag – always a conference favorite, filled with donations that are useful and interesting to scribes. The Welcome Bag committee is working energetically to assemble a truly unique collection for you. If you, your guild, or a company you know is interested in contributing to the Welcome Bags, please email us at peg@2012calligraphyconference.com.
Volunteer - Check the volunteer box on your registration form. Spend some quality time as a gallery sitter or class monitor. In case you didn’t see the little boxes for volunteering contact our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator angelina@2012calligraphyconference.com

The Portland Society for Calligraphy
February 17, 2011 | permalink
Established in 1969 by Lloyd J. Reynolds and a group of like-minded calligraphers as The Western American Branch of the Society for Italic Handwriting and incorporated as a nonprofit in 1973. This was in association with The Society for Italic Handwriting founded by Alfred Fairbank, a most notable British calligrapher, in 1952. The name was changed to The Portland Society for Calligraphy in 1984.
PSC, sponsor of Calligraphy Northwest 2012, has hosted two previous international conferences, 1987 and 1991, both directed by Carol DuBosch.
With an active membership, the guild holds monthly meetings, frequent and varied workshops and continues to reach out into the community with a number of activities.
The spirit of Lloyd Reynolds is still present as he is quoted in our mission statement. “Through study, understanding and critical practice, let us promote this healthy arts and crafts movement.” Lloyd Reynolds
