Why Reed College?

Reed College is one of the gems of the Northwest. It is a small undergraduate liberal-arts college located in a beautiful residential area of Portland, close to the center of the city. You can conveniently walk to neighborhood stores, bus downtown, or take a stroll through the 28-acre watershed at the center of campus. You might even search for Father Edward Catich’s carved Romans on Reed’s Tudor Gothic buildings.

Reed College is where charismatic calligraphy professor Lloyd Reynolds wrote both on paper and on the hearts and minds of his students. It will leave an indelible stamp on you.

The Dance of the Pen” is an informative article in the Reed College Alumni Magazine that tells the story, in words and images, of Reed College’s calligraphic heritage and legacy.
